Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The Wisconsin Assembly has chosen Republican Tyler August as the body’s new speaker pro tempore. August, of Lake Geneva, succeeds Rep. Bill Kramer, a Waukesha Republican. Assembly Republicans elected Kramer majority leader last month after former Majority Leader Scott Suder resigned. The speaker pro tempore presides over debate during Assembly floor sessions.
Kramer nominated August to the position at the outset of Tuesday’s session. The body approved him unanimously and Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman immediately swore him into office.
