MILWAUKEE (AP) – Drivers are bracing for delays and headaches as work on Milwaukee’s Hoan Bridge gets underway. The bridge carries Interstate 794 south from downtown Milwaukee. WTMJ-TV reports preparations for the two-year construction project begin Monday. The work will include improvements to intersections, new ramps and crossovers to prepare for construction. As part of the bridge project, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will replace the bridge’s deck, clean and repair steel girders and paint the bridge. Joe Zimmerman lives in the Bay View neighborhood south of downtown and takes the bridge daily. He says he expects traffic snarls and long delays.
