On March 27th, 2019, at approximately 5:40 PM, Vernon County deputies stopped to check on three vehicles parked near the intersection of State Highway 56 and Cook Hill Road.  The Vernon County K-9 Unit was called to the scene to assist. K-9 Myk indicated to the odor of narcotics in all three vehicles.

A subsequent search of the vehicles turned up methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, which resulted in the arrests of:

Shaya R. Nelson, age 29, of Viroqua, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Prescribed Narcotics without a Prescription, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Nathan L. Anderson, age 47, of Viroqua, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both parties were taken to the Vernon County Detention Center. Charges will be sought through the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.

Assisting the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office was the Viroqua Police Department.  This incident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
