Woman’s identity stolen
A Lyndon Station woman filed an identity theft complaint with the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office in July. The deputy said the woman received a letter from the IRS stating she owed over $15,000 and to review her 2010 tax return. The victim’s tax consultant advised the woman that a tax return had been filed by an unknown person prior to her filing. Instead of receiving a tax refund of over $6000, the woman was informed that she owed money. The victim is working with the IRS to settle the matter.
