A Mauston man charged last summer with delivering cocaine and maintaining a drug trafficking place was in a Juneau County Courtroom Thursday afternoon. 48-year old Steven Cholka is out on a 25-hundred dollar cash bond. During a motion hearing, Judge Roemer accepted defense attorney Jeanne Zamzow’s request to withdraw as Cholka’s attorney of record. This is the second public defender that has withdrawn since Cholka’s arrest in June 2012. Cholka told the court he plans on hiring a private attorney soon. Judge John Roemer withdrew Zamzow as counsel for the defendant and scheduled a follow up date for May 23rd, 2013.
