Another successful Waterfest boat parade. The weather was beautiful for the 14th Annual Venetian Lights Boat Parade on Castle Rock Lake Saturday night. With 16 boats entered this year, Mike Campagna’s Aliens on Castle Rocket themed boat took Best of Fleet. Campagna travels from Plainfield, Illinois each year to participate. First Place was awarded to Ron and Mary DeYoung’s Tiki Bar boat. Second Place went to Stacey Hansen’s Pirates Ahoy! Swashbucklers’ boat and Third Place to Doug Anderson’s “Mount Kinda-wanna-beer’ boat. Anderson travels from Genoa City each year to participate. Special Mention boats included Ed Krzysczak’s ‘Lighting Up the Night’, Diane and Scot Lutzen’s ‘On Wisconsin’, and Cindy Weiner’s ‘Cruisin Christmas’. Juneau County Economic Development Corporation Administrator and Co-Chair of the Waterfest Foundation, Marilyn Celeschi, says, “The Venetian Lights Boat Parade is organized annually to increase tourism in the area.” Celeschi thanks the boaters who spend hours decorating their boats and the many sponsors and businesses who donate for this annual event.
