SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING June 30, 2014.

6/23  Richard and Lorri Olson, Westby, reported their Polaris Razor ATV was stolen from under an awning on their property in the Town of Chaseburg.

6/24  A wallet was found at the wayside between Viroqua and Readstown in the Town of Franklin.

6/24 The Vernon County Highway Department reported a hit and run incident.  A vehicle hit one of their billboard signs at West Kickapoo Street and Highway 61 in the Village of Readstown causing damage.

6/24  Oscar Carlson, Westby, reported items stolen from his residence in the Town of Viroqua.

6/24  Kickapoo Kwk Stop, Village of Readstown, reported someone backed into part of their brick sign.

6/25  Drake Helgerson, Coon Valley, fell asleep in his vehicle while negotiating a curve on Newton Road, Town of Harmony.  Helgerson awoke but was unable to keep the vehicle from going down an embankment, coming to rest after striking a tree. Helgerson suffered no injuries.

6/27  Altra Federal Credit Union reported a burglary on a foreclosed property on State Highway 35, Stoddard, Town of Bergen. The lock had been removed and the air conditioner was missing.

6/30                 2 reportable car/deer (other animal) crashes:

Dennis Peterson, Chaseburg, on Cty Hwy K, Town of Bergen;

David Strait, La Farge, on County Road D, Town of Clinton;
