SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING November 20, 2017.

11/14                    Nicholas P. J. Ligtenberg, Viroqua, was following a vehicle on State Highway 56, Town of Viroqua, driven by Joshua K. Fairfield, Viroqua. Fairfield was following a third vehicle traveling below the speed limit.  Ligtenberg moved into the left lane in an attempt to pass both the slow moving vehicle, and the Fairfield vehicle.  Fairfield accelerated and crossed the centerline.  Ligtenberg struck the Fairfiled vehicle, went off the road, and struck a traffic sign.  Neither driver suffered any apparent injuries. Both vehicles were towed.

11/15                    Ruby D. Berg, Ontario, backed her vehicle into a parked car belonging to Fern C. Peterson, Ontario, on Park Street, in the Village of Ontario.  The vehicle Berg was driving was not damaged, the Peterson vehicle sustained damage to the front.  There were no injuries in the incident.

11/17                    Kendra J. Ravet, Hillsboro, was approaching a vehicle driven by Elle R. Osborne, waiting to turn left into a private driveway from State Highway 53, in the Town of Hollsboro.  Ravet was unable to stop, colliding with the rear of the Osborne vehicle.  The Ravet vehicle was towed, the Osborne vehicle was not damaged.  Neither driver was injured.

11/19                    Sheryl N. Fortney, Viroqua, backed her pickup into a pickup belonging to Croell, Inc. parked on her Town of Franklin property.  The Croell vehicle suffered right side damage.  Fortney was not injured.

Three cases of misappropriation of personal identifying information were reported in the past week.  These scams included a three-way call to lower the interest rate on a credit card account, a computer program withdrawing money from a personal checking account, and calls from an entity claiming to be Publisher’s Clearing House, requesting money from an alleged money winner.  Please be vigilant!
