SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING November 13, 2017.

11/6                      Richenda Petersheim, Viroqua, was traveling west on County Road Y, Town of Viroqua.  Petersheim watched the vehicle in front of her cross traffic at the intersection of US Highway 14.  Petersheim saw a tractor traveling north on US Highway 14, but thought it turned east on County Road Y.  Petersheim pulled in front of the tractor, causing a collision.  Alvin Malin was operating the tractor.  Neither driver received injuries.

11/8                      Kyle Stone, La Farge, was traveling west on Wolfe Valley Road, Town of Stark.  Stone was negotiating a curve, and traveled across the centerline.  Stone attempted to veer back towards the westbound lane, but the vehicle began to spin out of control.  The vehicle traveled backwards into the ditch, and hit several trees.  Stone was able to exit the vehicle.  No injuries were reported.

11/9                      Melanie Frydenlund, Chaseburg, was traveling southbound on Schlicht Road, Town of Hamburg.  Frydenlund swerved to avoid a deer, overcorrected, and lost control.  The vehicle crossed the centerline, and left the roadway.  The vehicle proceeded to roll several times into a cornfield, and came to rest on its roof.  Frydenlund sustained a minor laceration on her forehead, but refused medical treatment.

11/11                    Bonita Parish, Avoca, was traveling westbound on US Highway 14, Town of Viroqua.  Due to ice covered roads, Parish lost control, crossed the centerline, and struck the oncoming vehicle, operated by David Thingvold, La Crosse.  Parish reported minor injuries.

11/11                    Georgeann Noel, Fairchild, was traveling westbound on US Highway 14, Town of Viroqua, and lost control when she hit a patch of ice.  The vehicle traveled down an embankment through several bushes and trees.  No injuries were reported.

11/11                    Van Kane Schlegel, La Crosse, was traveling westbound on North Ridge Road, Town of Harmony.  Schlegel lost control on the ice covered road, left the roadway, and struck a large fence post.  No injuries were reported.

11/11                    Jean Grade, La Farge, was traveling south on State Highway 131, Town of Stark, hit an icy patch on the bridge, and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle spun around, and struck the edge of the bridge.  No injuries were sustained.

11/11                    Deanna Ashmore, Fennimore, was traveling northbound on US Highway 61, Village of Readstown.  Ashmore hit an icy spot on the roadway, spun 2-3 times, and stuck the guardrail.  Ashmore did not receive any injuries.

11/13                    15 reportable car / deer crashes:

Jeffrey Roble, La Crosse, on US Highway 14, Town of Hamburg;

Terry Heffner, Viroqua, on US Highway 14, Town of Viroqua;

Adam Becker, Viroqua, on State Highway 56, Town of Liberty;

Jessica Johnson, Milton, on State Highway 33, Town of Hillsboro;

Amelia Rebhahn, Viroqua, on US Highway 14, Town of Coon;

Linda Nederlo, Viroqua, on County Road J, Town of Franklin;

Francis Steers, Elroy, on State Highway 33, Town of Hillsboro;

Jennifer Wade, Viroqua, on Sidie Hollow Road, Town of Viroqua;

Stephanie Steffen, Viroqua, on County Road B, Town of Jefferson;

Fawn King, Coon Valley, on US Highway 14, Town of Hamburg.
