Tomah man arrested after train struck pickup
A Tomah man was arrested as a result of a pickup truck and train crash. Monroe County authorities said, “about 3am Friday morning, 22-year old Tyler Betthauser, was driving a pickup truck on Arm Road near Atlas Avenue in the Town of Lincoln. Betthauser drove through the stop sign at the railroad crossing and tried to beat the train. But the train struck the rear passenger side of the pickup. It rolled once coming to rest on the driver’s side on Arm Road. Betthauser and two passengers, 21-year old Sheridan Tilson and 19-year old Jessica Kurtz of Tomah, fled the scene in another vehicle that was with them. Betthauser was later located at his residence by the State Patrol and Tomah Police. Tilson and Kurtz were located in Warrens. They had received minor injuries as a result of the crash and sought medical attention on their own. Betthauser was treated at Tomah Memorial Hospital for his injuries and later arrested.”
