City of Adams Police Chief Todd Hansen wants to alert residents to a report of telephone fraud. Earlier this week a citizen received a phone call from a man with a Middle Eastern accent asking for the woman’s bank account number so he could send her a new Medicare card. Fortunately the victim’s daughter went to the bank and stopped all payments from the account and no money had yet been withdrawn. Chief Hanson reminds residents that Medicare does not call beneficiaries and do not give one’s personal bank account information or Social Security numbers over the phone, especially to someone you do not know.
