Snow melt results in weight restrictions on township and county roads
Snow melt will result in the softening of the base material below area roadways. Juneau County Public Works Director and Highway Commission Dennis Weiss says, “Weight restrictions are imposed on several township roads and many county roads. This annual event is not intended to create financial hardship to businesses and homeowners, instead these limits are necessary to keep the roadways stable. Without the weight restrictions, the road base would weaken and seriously deteriorate from melting frost. Weiss encourages everyone to complete their heavy hauling within the next few weeks while the highways are still frozen. Wednesday the Town of Lisbon Board imposed an eight ton road limit in the Lisbon Township.
