A rural New Lisbon man was taken into custody following a one-vehicle accident late Sunday afternoon, September 1st, 2013.  The deputy said about 5pm he responded to a pickup partially in the ditch off County Road ‘H’ north of Orange Mill Road in the Town of Orange.  The driver, 44-year old Ronald Baumgart, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OWI-1st offense.  He was also cited for Prohibited Alcohol Concentration and failure to keep vehicle under control.  Investigation revealed the 2000 Chevy pickup had traveled on the shoulder approximately 25-feet.  Baumgart over-corrected twice, put the truck into a side skid causing it to enter the ditch sideways coming to rest partially in a cornfield.  It appeared the wheel had broken-off at that point.  It was only attached by the brake line.  Baumgart was uninjured.  His fines totaled $1988.10.
