The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has released two sex offender information bulletins. 46-year-old Kent Kleven and 40-year-old William McGothlin will be residing at 308 Main Street in Friendship. Both are on supervision with the Department of Corrections and are required to follow rules as established by the department, including no unapproved contact with minors, no taverns/bars/liquor stores, no contact with the victim, and no consumption of alcohol or drugs. Kleven and McGothlin are also registered with the Sex Offender Registration program and are required to register for life.

Kleven is a white male, 5-feet 11-inches tall with blonde hair, blue eyes and weighs 201 pounds. On 10/30/2002, Kleven was convicted in Adams and Sauk County of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault (Attempted); Use of Weapon in a Crime; Bail Jumping; Criminal Damage to Property; Habitual Criminal. His attempted victim was a 21-year-old non-relative female. Kleven drove the female to a secluded area and produced a knife. The female subject was able to flee and was assisted by a passerby. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison, 15 months extended supervision; 18 months in prison, concurrent; 2 years probation, concurrent. In 1993, Kleven was convicted in Wood County of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault. Kleven gave his 16-year-old female relative a ride in his car. He drove to a secluded area, bound the victim and sexually assaulted her.

McGlothlin is a white male, 5-feet 11-inches tall, with shaved/brown hair, blue eyes, and weighs 232 pounds. On 07/25/2012, McGlothlin was convicted in Adams County for failing to update information as required by the Sex Offender Registry laws. On 05/23/1994, he was convicted in Wood County of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and 1st degree sexual assault. On 04/08/1992, McGlothlin was convicted in Rock County of 4th degree sexual assault. McGlothlin’s prior sexual assault convictions are for acts involving non-relative minor females ranging from 11-years-old to 16-years-old, typically targeting runaways. One of the victims was physically bound during the assault.

 

Sheriff Sam Wollin says citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. A sex offender notification meeting will be held May 8th at 6pm at the Adams County Community Center. The meeting will conclude with a written question and answer session. Some information presented at the meeting may not be appropriate for young children.
