Semi jackknifed on Interstate
West bound Interstate traffic near Oakdale was impacted Monday for two hours as a result of a two-semi accident. The State Patrol said at 11am a Cottage Grove man, 41-year old Jody Nathe was operating a 2009 Peterbilt tractor trailer on Interstate 90/94 at mile marker 46 when he failed to slow for a 2002 Kenworth semi which was traveling at a slower speed. Nathe swerved into the left lane to avoid a rear end collision, but struck the left rear of the tanker. The Peterbilt then jackknifed in the right lane. Monroe County Highway Department assisted with the fluid cleanup. All lanes were affected, but traffic was able to travel on the shoulder. Both semis were removed and the scene cleared about 1pm. Both Nathe and the operator of the Kenworth bulk trailer, 31-year old Benjamin Smith of Selma, Alabama, were cited on scene.”
