Royall School District mil rate rose
The Royall School District taxpayers will see an increase in the school portion of their property tax bills in December. Royall School Superintendent Mark Gruen said, “the Board Monday night approved an almost 2.6-million dollar levy and a mil rate of $12.73 per $1000 of valuation, an increase of a dollar and a-half.” “The Board also approved salary lane movements for teachers who have acquired additional education credits and approved salary step movements for the more experienced teachers. When added with the wage increase of 1.17% for teachers with one-year at Royall, the total wage increase is closer to 3%,” said Gruen. “The Board tabled action on non-union staff salaries because it was minus one member. And it accepted the retirement of Royall High School Secretary Joanne Wopat after 24-years of service,” he said.
