Riverside Park improvement
As part of the City of Mauston’s Riverside Park Improvement project, the City Council Tuesday night hired a firm to pursue the acquisition of six properties along Beach Street. Mauston City Administrator Nathan Thiel said, “the Council approved spending $12,600 to hire Miesbauer and Associates of Belleville, Wisconsin to contact the property owners and negotiate possible sales of their homes located in the flood plain. The Municipal Flood Control Grant was awarded contingent that sales by the owners would be all voluntary. The DNR portion of the $515,000 grant is $360,500 and the City’s portion, or 30-percent, is $154,500.” In addition, the City received $166,000 from the DNR for a Recreation Boating Facility Grant, or 45-percent of the total amount, to improve the boat launch at Riverside Park. Thiel said, “of the total amount of the 1.9-million in improvements for the Mansion Street and Riverside Park project, the City of Mauston has been awarded 1-million dollars in grants and TIF revenue will fund the balance.”
