Bullying and school violence can be replaced with acts of respect, kindness, and compassion.  The public is invited to attend a community event at Mauston Olson Middle School Tuesday, January 15th, 2013, called Rachel’s Challenge.  Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine School shootings in 1999.  After speaking to a Congressional House Judiciary Committee regarding school violence, Rachel’s father, Darrell Scott, founded Rachel’s Challenge, a bullying and violence abatement program.  Tuesday evening, January 15th, at 7pm the public is invited to attend the program sponsored by the Mauston Police Department, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department, and Olson Middle School.
