A Mauston man was taken into custody Thursday night.  Police said about 10:30pm an officer responded to a residence in the 100-block of La Crosse Street in the City of Mauston for a theft complaint.  30-year old Everett Barr told the officer he was gone for a few hours and left the door unlocked.  When he returned, the few Christmas presents he was able to purchase were stolen.  A records check showed Barr was wanted on a probation warrant.  Barr was handcuffed and transported to the Juneau County Jail.
