Private Pesticide Applicator Training
A one-day training session for the Private Applicator Certification will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Juneau County UW-Extension Office, 211 Hickory Street, Mauston WI. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. The session will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and be completed by 3:30 p.m. Preregistration is required by February 8, 2013. The registration fee is $30.00 which includes the manual.
Pesticide Application Manuals may be obtained at the Juneau County UW-Extension Office.
A private applicator is one who applies pesticides on property owned or rented by that individual or his or her employer, and for the purpose of producing an agricultural commodity. There are four criteria for qualification as a private applicator:
1. Application must occur on land under that person’s control or that of his/her employer.
2. Application must be for the purpose of producing an agriculture commodity.
3. An applicator may make incidental applications on someone else’s land for compensation (whether for exchange of services or money) and is limited to 500 acres for no more than 3 different agricultural producers in any calendar year.
4. The private applicator must be at least 16 years of age.
