President of The Necedah Bank retires
Clients, family, and former employees stopped at The Necedah Bank Tuesday to wish Bank President Duane Weed well in his retirement. Weed has been in the banking business since 1955. Originally from the Kansas/Colorado border area, Weed was facing the draft so he joined the U.S.Army Finance Corps and then served in Korea. After arriving stateside, he was sent to Fort McCoy and discharged. He married and took banking positions in Sheboygan County and Elroy. Weed recalls the day he signed papers to take controlling interest of The Necedah Bank from Art Siegler in September 1981. He returned to his Elroy home and heard on the radio that evening that the dam in Necedah located on the Yellow River just below the bank had collapsed and the lake had traveled downstream. But he came back and became President in January 1982. Weed retires August 1st, 2013 and plans on fishing, traveling, being with friends, and enjoying life. Current VP of The Necedah Bank, Mike Madden, will step up as President.
