Plea agreement reached
A plea agreement has been reached with a New Lisbon man with multiple charges. As a result of an execution of a search warrant in March 2012 at a residence in the Town of Fountain, 40-year old Antonio Martinez, Senior was arrested and charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, and possession of THC and drug paraphernalia. A search of an apartment in the City of New Lisbon in July 2012 resulted in Martinez being charged with felon in possession of a firearm, felony bail jumping, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The drug trafficking charged was dismissed in November 2012 and Thursday afternoon the Juneau County District Attorney’s Office and defense attorney told the court they had reached an agreement. Martinez would plead ‘no contest’ to possession of THC and felony bail jumping and the other charges would be dismissed. Martinez would be placed on 2-years probation with a one-year jail sentence. The 1-year jail sentence would be stayed but Martinez would have to serve 30-days. Defense attorney Roger Klopp asked the sentencing be pushed back until after Martinez’s son finishes school. The court approved the plea agreement and set sentencing for June 4th, 2013. Martinez has been out on a $500 cash bond since March 2012 and has made all his court appearances.
