Oxford man accused of growing marijuana
An Oxford man has been charged with manufacturing THC, Possession of THC, and bail jumping. The deputy said in October 2012 he responded to property on County Road ‘A’ in the Town of New Chester to investigate a possible outdoor marijuana grow. Initially 62-year old Charles Phillips denied that he was growing marijuana and showed the deputy around his property. The deputy did locate two marijuana plants hanging upside down in an old chicken coop. Phillips then apologized for lying and showed the deputy a baggie of marijuana inside the house. He said he only grew marijuana for personal use to help deal with the arthritis pain in his hands.
