The Adams-Friendship School Board has decided to approve a one-to-one computer device initiative for students in fourth, fifth, sixth, and ninth grades. Next year, those four grades will be issued a school base iPad or a Windows tablet and they will continue with those devices as they progress through school. District Administrator Rick Waski says the reason the district is starting with those grades is because a similar initiative was already in the district. “We’d already started an initiative at Roche-A-Cri [Elementary] for fourth and fifth grade and those are with iPads,” said Waski. “We are going to go district-wide with iPads for fourth and fifth grades next year and then for sixth and ninth grade, we’ll start with Windows tablets and we’ll move those devices through.” Waski says that this will make a huge impact on the students from a technology literacy standpoint.
