Norwalk man asleep behind the wheel
A Norwalk man fell asleep while driving Saturday afternoon. Monroe County Sheriff Pete Quirin said, “About 3:25pm 20-year old Julio Gonzales Mata, was traveling east on Highway 71 when he reportedly fell asleep. The vehicle crossed the center line, vaulted over a driveway, struck a ‘no passing’ sign, and rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels. Mata was able to go to a nearby residence to call for help. He was medically transported by Wilton Ambulance to a Sparta hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
