New Lisbon Schools pad Fund Balance
“The New Lisbon School District has been able to add $385,000 to the Fund Balance in the 2012-13 budget,” New Lisbon Superintendent Dennis Birr updated the New Lisbon School Board Monday night. He said, “the District received additional Medicaid aid from the federal government as a result of a previous backlog of payments for 2008, 2009, and 2010. Also a switch in the health insurance plan resulted in a savings of $215,000 to the District for a 9-month period. Food Service not only broke even, but saw a surplus.” Birr said, “the District also changed the way it handles short-term borrowing and saved $25,000.” The New Lisbon School District Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting is scheduled for Monday evening, August 27th, 2012 at 7pm.
