The Necedah School Board had a busy night at its meeting on Monday night. The board hired six people for different positions based on retirements the district had. It hired Savanna Kaster as a 5th grade teacher, Stefanie Rieb as a 3rd grade teacher, Renee Dutscheck as a Kindergarten teacher, Tracy Saylor 4-year-old kindergarten teacher, Carl Semrow as the Tech/Ed Teacher, and Megan Sluyter as the middle school and high school art teacher. It also approved a 1.46% increase in teacher, support staff, supervisor, and administration salaries and wages. Superintendent Larry Gierach said that Bimbo, formally Sara Lee, won the bread bid and Morning Glory (Deans) won the milk bid. Both of these bids go through the CESA 2 Purchasing Nutrition Cooperative Program. There was also some discussion regarding the preliminary budget. Gierach said that right now the budget shows a $160,850 deficit. After the district gets the rest of the data it needs, the actual budget will be brought back in October for the board’s approval.
