A Mauston woman was taken into custody Friday morning. Police said about 8 a.m. the officer witnessed 29-year-old Kalena Vanderhoof strike her husband in front of two children while their car was parked near the Mauston Police Station. Investigation revealed Vanderhoof had lost her cell phone at a rummage sale and became upset. Even after they went back and found her phone, Vanderhoof was still upset. She started to yell at her husband and allegedly started to hit him. He turned the car around and started towards the Police Station where she continued to swear in front of the children and strike the victim. She was forcibly removed from the vehicle and transported to the Juneau County Jail. Vanderhoof has been tentatively charged with ‘domestic-disorderly conduct’, ‘battery’, and ‘resisting an officer’.
