Mauston PD K-9 returned
After several months of training and many successes, the Mauton Police Department has returned its K-9 to Midwest K-9, a company that trains and sells police dogs. Police Chief Mark Messer says, “the City of Mauston Police Department’s acquisition of ‘Yaro’ was initiated several months ago with great community support. Many successes have been made with Yaro. He excels on drugs and continues on tracking and handler protection. Yaro’s training will be coming to an end and it’s our belief that we should be further ahead in the program. Yaro has been returned to Midwest K-9. The company has gone above and beyond in support training, however decisions needed to be made. With continued support of the sponsors of the program and the Mauston Police and Fire Commission, the City and Mauston PD will move forward with a new drug/patrol dog.”
