A Mauston man has been charged with telephone harassment and disorderly conduct.  The deputy said on New Year’s night about 9:30pm he was dispatched to the 900-block of Division Street in the City of Mauston to assist a Mauston police officer with 44-year old Mark Kvitek.  Kvitek was threatening the officer and the Mauston Police Department because of an alleged road rage incident.  Kvitek had told dispatch earlier that he was going to run into the Mauston PD and that he was hunting cops.  He was also going to the hospital to take hostages.  The deputy was familiar with Kvitek because of past experiences dealing with him at a group home near Necedah.  Kvitek told the deputy he hadn’t taken his medication for 5-days.  A search revealed a knife in Kvitek’s pocket but no guns.  He was arrested and transported to the Juneau County Jail.  A crisis worker was called to evaluate Kvitek.
