Area emergency workers rescued a kayaker pinned against one of the gates at the dam on the Yellow River in the Village of Necedah Tuesday.  Juneau County Deputy Shawn Skiles said, “I was in Necedah when the call came-in about noon.  A fisherman had seen the kayaker go under but not come back up.  He had been pulled under by the current of the river.  When I went on top of the dam, I looked down and saw him clinging onto the framework of the gate.  I went to the squad car and got a rope.  I lowered it down and he tied it under his armpits.  Necedah Fire Department personnel arrived and lowered a ladder from one of the concrete platforms.  I held the rope and he climbed up and over to the ladder.  State Patrol Trooper Frantal assisted me.  The kayaker was talking with the ambulance crew and I cleared the scene without identifying the man.”  Deputy Skiles said, “The current below the dam in Necedah is really strong this year.”
