During National Police Week, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing two deputies who were killed in the Line of Duty.  Sheriff Brent Oleson says, “Almost 33-years ago Deputy Steven Johnson was killed when he was struck by a semi tractor-trailer on October 14th, 1980.  He was 33 at the time of his death and left behind his wife and four children.  On March 31st, 1989 Deputy Richard Housworth was killed when his squad left the roadway and struck a tree during a high speed pursuit.  Deputy Housworth left behind his pregnant wife and seven children.  In the Juneau County Justice Center in Mauston on the wall outside the Sheriff’s Office, there are two plaques recognizing the service of Johnson and Housworth and their sacrifice to the people of Juneau County.”
