A Necedah man was sentenced to 40-days in jail as a result of a fight last December. Thursday afternoon 20-year old Alexander Becerra plead ‘no contest’ to a disorderly conduct charge as a result of a fight at an Elroy apartment. The prosecution told Judge Paul Curran Becerra and others were at a party and drinking when Becerra struck another man in the face with a piggy bank and candle resulting in facial fractures to the victim. Even though Becerra was on probation at the time of the incident, he was not placed on a probation hold and bail was set at a $1000 signature bond. Thursday, the District Attorney’s office asked for 60-days in jail plus $379 in fines and court costs. The defense attorney requested no jail time, but an additional 1-year of probation and $379-dollars in fines and court costs. Judge Curran decided jail time was appropriate and sentenced Becerra to 40-days in jail with Huber privileges to begin on or before July 6th, 2013 plus $379 in fines and court costs.
