High speed chase crosses Jackson/Monroe County Line
A Sparta man was taken into custody after a high speed chase Saturday night. Monroe County Sheriff Pete Quirin said, “51-year old Brian Brannon had allegedly stolen a vehicle out-of the City of Sparta and was stopped in Jackson County. The suspect then took off on Jackson County Officers and a high speed chase ensued with speeds in excess of 100mph. At times Brannon was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic. The chase entered Monroe County and the Monroe County deputies joined the chase. Deputies and State Troopers deployed spikes just north of the City of Sparta and the stolen vehicle entered the ditch. Brannon was taken into custody. He has been tentatively charged with operating motor vehicle without owner’s consent, recklessly endangering safety, fleeing law enforcement, and operating motor vehicle while intoxicated-8th offense. Brannon is being held in the Monroe County Jail pending a court appearance on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013.”
