The Sauk County Public Health Department is coordinating two presentations on the area heroin epidemic.  30 heroin/opiate related deaths have occurred in Sauk County over the last 3-years.  Public Health Nurse Jody Bruni says, “Heroin users come from all backgrounds and can affect any family.”  A Deforest, Wisconsin woman, Carol Buege, lost her son, Craig, one month before his 21st birthday to a heroin drug overdose.  To bring purpose to her son’s death, Buege envisioned the creation of a video to share the story of his life which includes interviews with his friends, a Madison police detective, three recovering heroin addicts, and a former heroin dealer.  Madison Detective Rortvedt and Buege will be presenting their program for the Baraboo High School students on Friday, April 26th, 2013.  Then on Monday evening, April 29th, 2013, they will share their message with the public at the Baraboo High School beginning at 6:30pm.
