Brooks was joined by Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson, former State Representative Sheryl Albers, and State Senator Dale Schultz for the ceremony in Governor Jim Doyle's office March 10th.

Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson was in attendance as well as Representative Ed Brooks, Volk Field Commander Colonel Gary Ebben, State Senator Dale Schultz, and former State Representative Sheryl Albersas Governor Jim Doyle signed Assembly Bill 128 into law Wednesday.  Brooks said the bill allows the Sheriff to deputize military personnel to assist with security outside a military base.  Increasing the safety in and around Volk Field is very important and this new law ill help local law enforcement and military personnel.  Brooks said, “Volk Filed has seen significant use in recent months and providing this extra security around the perimeter of the Base will keep our troops and their families protected.”  Assembly Bill 128 is now Wisconsin Act 154 and the signing of this Bill in Madison completes a 3 1/2 year process started by former State Representative Sheryl Albers.  Sheriff Oleson said, “This was a bi-partisan effort in the state legislature.”
