Friendship woman trapped
A Friendship woman was seriously injured as a result of a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon. The deputy said at 12:45pm 43-year old Shelley Splinter was traveling north on Highway 13 in the Town of Preston. As she attempted a right turn onto Cypress Avenue, her cell phone began to slide across the passenger seat. As she looked down to grab the phone, the 2004 Chevy Venture van crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Hyundai almost head-on. The driver of the four door Sonata, 59-year old Margaret Williams of Friendship, tried to pull over as far as she could, but could not avoid the collision. Splinter was trapped and had to be extricated. She was cited for ‘inattentive driving’ and fined $187.90.
