BloodCenter of Wisconsin officials are issuing an emergency appeal to area residents to help with a critical need for blood by donating at Tomah Memorial Hospital next Thursday, July 19 from noon to 6 p-m. BloodCenter of Wisconsin blood program consultant Jennifer Stelzer said summer months are critical because the need for blood tends to go up but unfortunately donations tend to go down.

She said BloodCenter needs to collect about 800 units of blood each day to meet the needs of patients in Wisconsin. BloodCenter is the sole supplier of blood to about 56 of hospitals in Wisconsin including Tomah Memorial. Donors can register for a donation time online at Tomah Hospital -dot- org. Walk ins are also welcome.
