A call for donations for victims of Hurricane Sandy has gone out to residents in Wisconsin Rapids and southern Wood County.  “The borough of New York City lost seven people to Hurricane Sandy and tens of thousands could be without the basic necessities such as food and clothing,” said Rapids resident John Zagorianankos, whose mother lost her home in the storm.  Talking with churches in Staten Island, Zagorianakos said, “people need nonperishable food items, gloves, cleaning supplies, shoes and boots, clothing, garbage bags, and water.”  Donations will be accepted at the parking lot at 2660 Eighth Street South in the Rapids until the trailer is full.  The truck will be driven to Staten Island and the donations will be distributed at the Moravian Church and St. Mary’s Church.
