A rural New Lisbon man has been charged with strangulation and other counts of domestic abuse.  According to the criminal complaint, Thursday morning about 4am deputies responded to a residence on 15th Avenue in the Town of Lemonweir for a disturbance.  Investigation revealed 35-year old Sterling Funmaker had been shooting pool at a bar in Lyndon Station while his girlfriend and mother were playing Bingo at the casino.  Funmaker’s girlfriend didn’t want him driving home, so she had his mother drop her off at the bar and she drove both of them home where she made food for them.  She then went to lie down because she was recovering from the flu and apparently Funmaker became upset because she wasn’t paying enough attention to him.  That’s when he allegedly became physical, punching her in the head and strangling her.  His mother had left the residence to call 9-1-1 for help.  Funmaker was arrested and transported to the Juneau County Jail.  The victim was medically transported to the ER.  During a court hearing later in the day, Thursday, bail was set at 20% of a $10,000 cash bond or $2,000.  Funmaker is to have no contact with the victim and maintain absolute sobriety.
