contributed….Warden Mike Green of Wisconsin Dells conducted an interview of a hunter who had harvested a deer that tested positive for CWD outside of the current management zone near Lyndon Station in Juneau County.  The deer was a buck aged at 4 to 5 years old and appeared healthy when taken.

Warden Mike Green of Wisconsin Dells cited two individuals for riding snowmobiles at a high rate of speed on cross country ski trails at night in Mirror Lake State Park.  After the contact, Warden Green followed up with a group of skiers in a nearby parking area to make sure they were OK.  The Sauk County Snowmobile Alliance and local snowmobile clubs did an excellent job fencing and signing trails, and making contacts at resorts frequented by snowmobilers to get the word out on staying on designated snowmobile trails.

Warden Paul Nell of Horicon and Warden Ryan Ellifson of Jefferson completed a multi-year migratory bird investigation in Dodge and Jefferson Counties.  The wardens found that several hunters had harvested geese in the Exterior Zone and not reported them as required.  In 2011 alone, the wardens found that the hunters failed to report 50 geese. Seven hunters were cited for violations including hunting without a license, fail to report goose harvest, possession of geese over bag limit and fail to register a turkey.

Warden Mike Green of Wisconsin Dells investigated two separate complaints of dogs being caught in traps at Rocky Run and Mud Lake Wildlife Areas.  All trap sets were found to be legal and the dogs were released without injuries.  The trapper voluntarily offered to move his sets to different locations.
