The Juneau County Farm Service Agency will conduct several Conservation Reserve Program informational meetings beginning Wednesday through Friday, June 14th, 2013.  Juneau County FSA Director Jon Williams says, “The meetings will cover land and producer eligibility, practices available, the bidding process, completing contracts, among other requirements.”  All the informational meetings will be held at the FSA office in Mauston in the Courthouse Annex building and will last about 90-minutes.  The meetings for this Wednesday morning will begin at 10am.  The meeting Thursday afternoon will start at 1pm.  The meeting for next Tuesday evening, May 28th, will begin at 6pm and the CRP meeting for next Thursday morning, May 30th, 2013 will start at 10am.  The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is the largest voluntary private-land conservation program.  It helps farmers and other agricultural producers use their environmentally sensitive land for conservation purposes.  CRP assists in creating new wildlife habitat, enhancing water, soil, and air quality through a variety of covers that can be established.  In return for offering the land, the Farm Service Agency provides participants annual rental payments, cost share and technical assistance.  For more information or to sign-up for one of the informational meetings, contact the FSA Office in Mauston at 847-7221 extension 2.
