CP Holiday Train coming to Mauston
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be coming to Mauston next month. The brightly lit train cars will make a stop in Mauston on Sunday afternoon, December 9th, 2012, at 4:30pm at the Division Street railroad crossing. Go to the Mauston Chamber of Commerce website now to bid on three coveted seats on the train for the ride as it departs Mauston to Sparta. The money raised during this bidding will be donated to the food pantry. But the Canadian Pacific Railroad will match the amount and send the money to ‘Feeding America’, whose food banks are continuing to provide food and other supplies to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Also, anyone who brings money instead of a non-perishable food item next month, the cash will go to the local food pantry but the Canadian Pacific Railroad will match the donations dollar for dollar and also send the money for Hurricane Sandy Relief. Whether you donate food items or cash, everyone will still get a hot chocolate beverage from the Chamber. The United Methodist Church will also have bell ringers in the crowd during the Holiday Train stop to collect money donations for The Salvation Army. Mauston food pantry spokesperson Kathy Green says, “the food pantry can turn one dollar into five-pounds of food to stock our shelves. If you are not able to make it out to the train on Sunday, December 9th, 2012, one can still donate to the food pantry.”
