A Necedah couple, 37-year old Karri Asselin and 46-year old Paul Asselin, has been charged with child neglect.  According to the criminal complaint, last week Juneau County deputies and officials from the Juneau County Department of Human Services went to a makeshift compound on Retirement Lane in the Town of Necedah.  Eight children were living in a mobile home, a motor home, plus two different pull-behind trailers.  There was rampant filth throughout both the living and sleeping areas.  The children were dirty and unkempt.  There was no running water, no electricity to run the refrigerator, no sewer connections, and inadequate access to food.  Karri Asselin has also been charged with physical abuse of a child for allegedly striking one of the children several times on the legs and grabbing her throat for taking two candy bars.  Paul Asselin has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling at the deputies and throwing the warrant at them.  After being handcuffed and placed in the squad, he allegedly banged his head on the window.  During a court hearing Monday, bail was set at a $1000 signature bond and he’s to have no unsupervised contact with the children.  Karri Asselin’s bail was set at $2000 signature bond.  Her contact with the children must also be supervised.  The couple’s current address is Franklin Street in Elroy.
