Controlled burn in Refuge
A U.S. Fish and Wildlife official says there is a prescribed burn today, Monday, May 6th, 2013, at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge. 600-acres will be burned northwest of Necedah. Conditions are favorable for the controlled burn. This is the time of year for burning to help create the habitat for the Blue Karner Butterfly and maintain the oak savannah.
