“Charges are pending for two Hillsboro men and a Mauston teenager as a result of a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon,” said Vernon County Sheriff John Spears.  “On September 6th, 2013 about 2:15pm 19-year old Steven Blaha of Hillsboro was operating a pickup truck south of Hillsboro on Highway 80 with two passengers.  17-year old Alannah Lancaster of Mauston was in the middle and 24-year old Brandon Wangen of Hillsboro was in the passenger seat.  Wangen was hanging out of the passenger window when Lancaster jerked the steering wheel of Blaha’s pickup.  Wangen was ejected out the window and landed on Highway 80.  A prior military combat medic, a fire fighter, and another passing motorist stopped to render aid to Wangen who was transported to a Hillsboro hospital with head, hand, and arm injuries.  Wangen was not wearing a seatbelt when he was ejected.  Both Blaha and Lancaster were wearing seat belts.  Alcohol was a factor and charges are pending for Lancaster, Blaha, and Wangen with the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.  All three are scheduled to appear in Vernon County Circuit Court on October 7, 2013.”
