A Mauston woman has been charged with causing mental harm to a child, battery, and disorderly conduct.  According to the criminal complaint, last month 27-year old Kari Cox became upset with a 14-year old boy because he hadn’t done his chores.  After cleaning the garage and returning a book to the library, Cox allegedly yelled at the boy calling him names and telling him his family doesn’t want him.  As he started to leave the residence, Cox allegedly yanked him back, ripped his shirt, and threw him to the ground choking him.  During a court hearing last week, bail was set at a $1000 signature bond and Cox is to maintain absolute sobriety at all times and have no contact with the victim.
