Car vs grain truck
Mauston police provided mutual aid in the investigation of a two-vehicle accident east of Mauston Sunday night. The officer said about 8pm he responded to the intersection of Morrisey and Rockwood Roads in the Town of Lemonweir. According to the deputy’s report, a 59-year old Mauston man, James Chamber, was operating a grain truck. As he pulled out of a farm field driveway onto Morrisey Road, Chamber told the deputy he did not see any oncoming traffic. But a Lyndon Station man, 19-year old Casey Cooley, was traveling south on Morrisey road about 80-miles per hour and struck the driver’s side back wheel of the grain trailer. Cooley was trapped and had to be extricated by the Mauston Fire Department. Cooley and a passenger, 18-year old Mercedez Lewis of New Lisbon, were medically transported. Chambers was uninjured. He was cited for ‘no seatbelt’ and fine $10. Cooley was cited for ‘unreasonable and imprudent speed’ and for ‘no insurance’. His fines totaled $413.60.
