Brooks votes to safeguard transportation funds
Representative Ed Brooks voted in favor of a constitutional amendment that will prevent the State Transportation Fund from being raided to pay for other state programs. The bill, which Brooks co-sponsored, passed the Assembly earlier this week by a vote of 83-12. “This amendment has overwhelming constituent support, said Brooks, “Juneau, Richland, Vernon, and Monroe counties all passed advisory referendums suggesting it’s time to we get this done.” Tuesday’s vote marks the amendment’s second passage through the Assembly, with a second vote in the State Senate likely coming soon. Following passage, the issue is placed on a state wide ballot for the people’s approval.
