The City of Mauston is continuing to demolish blighted houses using WHEDA grant money. Tuesday morning Bollig Excavating of Mauston razed the former Antique Mall at the intersection of Highway 58 and 82 East along the Lemonweir River. Mauston City Administrator Nathan Thiel said, “The building was owned by the Bank of Mauston through foreclosure from Gerald Frank. The Bank did a Quit Claim Deed just for the purpose of demolishing the former Antique Mall and also the former television business building. The house that sells ice cream will remain. The Bank will then reclaim the property” . Thiel said, “The bank is working with a potential developer for the site.” He said the City owns part of the parcel and will develop it as a green space. The City also has plans to demolish a blighted residence on Beach Street before the end of June.
